I've lost connection
My only link to the world outside
Yet this is a common thing
To be sent far away
Away from everything I love
And to feel like a whole inch wide
But the things I do out here
Though small and minute
Make those that love and care
Have a sense of pride
I've lost my source
My only source that connects you and me
All that I'm surrounded by
Is what I cannot escape
My job, my workspace
And that is the deep blue sea
I wouldn't mind being here
If only we could be together
Soon we'll be joined forever
Together, forever we will be
I may have lost connectivity
Which physically allows us to keep in touch
But we need to remember
That this is only temporary
And though times like these
Go on and on and such
You are something I will never lose
No matter how far apart we roam
Our personal, emotional connection
Cannot be stricken
And I love it deeply,
Oh so very much

The Dash
I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on her tombstone
From the beginning to the end.
He noted that first came the date of her birth
And spoke of the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered most of all
Was the dash between those years.
For that dash represents all the time
That she spent alive on earth
And now only those who loved her
Know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not, how much we own,
The cars, the house, the cash,
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.
So think about this long and hard;
Are there things you'd like to change?
For you never know how much time is left
That can still be rearranged.
If we could just slow down enough
To consider what's true and real
And always try to understand
The way other people feel.
And be less quick to anger
And show appreciation more
And love the people in our lives
Like we've never loved before.
If we treat each other with respect
And more often wear a smile,
Remembering that this special dash
Might only last a little while.
So when your eulogy is being read
With your life's actions to rehash
Would you be proud of the things they say
About how you spent your dash?

For you, my source of inspiration.
Here’s my chance to give something to you,
To the man I love so much.
Who uses words to create masterpieces of his own,
And makes me feel like a million bucks.
I admire your love for the ocean,
I think of you every time I am there.
Like when we sat and watched the waves hit the rocks,
You kept me warm, preventing me from feeling bare.
You stared out into the abyss,
And put your arm around my shoulder.
We watched the sun inch towards the horizon,
To the place where we’ll meet, and continue to grow older.
We took moments aside, for our lips to find each other,
While the sun danced away and decided to set.
Being able to gaze into your eyes;
Was something I could not do when we first met.
Now, I am hooked on your green, handsome eyes,
As they keep me locked in your tight embrace.
I find it extremely hard to look away,
For they are filled with such beauty, love, and grace.
I am consumed with joy as I hold your hand,
Simply sitting beside you in your big, white truck.
I am in wondrous awe knowing that we’ve found each other,
It was fate for us to meet, certainly not just luck.
With every smile, laugh, and kiss,
It feels like we are meant to be.
I never thought you could be so perfect,
So perfect that is, for me.
For being in love with you,
Enriches my life each and every day.
I only hope I can return the favor,
And savor what we have, never letting it slip away.

Us.
If you were the sky and I were the sea...
Then I'd be the sea
And when you shined bright
It would reflect in me.
When you're at rest
Then I am steady.
If you wanna get rough
I'm always ready.
Past closing at the bars
If you show me the stars
I'll open right up
And cast them out far.
And on the darkest night
If you won't shine a light.
Then I'm silent alongside you
Until you feel right.
We'll meet at the horizon
Where lovers will stare
And wonder with passion
Why they can't meet there.
And you'll share me a kiss
As bright as two suns.
When they meet in the middle
I'll know the days done.
And I can tell that's your way of saying to me.
Goodnight my love.
If you were the sky and I were the sea.

Prelude
So I figured I'd give this blogging thing a shot. Writing has always calmed my nerves and allowed me to figure certain aspects of my life out. I know I won't have all the answers that I am looking for, but nobody really does and I wouldn't say that I'm looking for all the answers. I really would like to utilize this for anything that comes to my mind, whether it be rambling about my day, de-stressing, reciting song lyrics, writing poems, scribbling words, talking about future plans, anything at all really.
Lately, my mind has been saturated with love, excitement, stress, studying, work, the future, and love, did I mention love?
So much of my life has changed over the past year, and I know it's only going to keep changing. I really would like a place to try and organize my thoughts, talk about my dreams, reminisce old memories, and talk about new ones. I'm going to let my heart pour out from my body, run through my fingertips, display it onto the keyboard, and electronically put it into cyberspace. If you happen to stumble across this, maybe you'll find some interest in my entries, maybe you'll get some laughs, or maybe you'll find my blog super boring. Regardless of what you think, this will be a new adventure and experiment for me. In other words, A Total Word Exploration.
